AnxioFit-1®

Echinacea angustifolia

AnxioFit-1™ was tested in human volunteers experiencing increased stress and tension. A standardized assessment tool was used to measure their feelings of stress or anxiety at baseline, and compared with responses after 1, 3, and 7 days after taking the specialized extract. After one day of use, the participants experienced a significant reduction on the anxiety measurement scale, which increased to a 25% reduction by day 7.1 In a separate scientific study, AnxioFit-1 was compared to other anxiety relieving substances and found to not only meet or exceed their effects, but to not cause drowsiness, which can be a common side effect. 2

AnxioFit-1®

Q: Isn’t Echinacea for the immune system?

It’s true that Echinacea is usually known for immune support. And, even though millions of people use Echinacea for this purpose, the effects of relief of occasional anxiety haven’t previously been reported. However, there are good reasons for this:

First, only one species, grown in controlled conditions and processed using special extraction procedures, produces the plant compounds that reduce stress and anxiety.

Second, while it’s easy to think that “more is better” that’s not true in this case. Most immune supplementation is at high dosages or standardized to high amounts of immune-stimulating compounds. But high doses don’t work for relieving occasional anxiety. In this case, effects are produced at low doses by active compounds that work only in a narrow therapeutic window.

Q: So, can any Echinacea be used?

It doesn’t appear to be the case. The researchers at the Hungarian Academy of Science, who are responsible for this amazing extract, discovered that it is not just the species of Echinacea that is important, but how the plant is grown and how the key compounds are extracted that determines whether or not the extract will be effective.

In a comparison test of 7 different Echinacea extracts, only this particular Echinacea angustifolia root extract provided the high levels of the special compounds associated with anxiety relief. These compounds are able to safely bind to brain receptors that trigger feelings of calm and relaxation.*

AnxioFit-1®

The Echinacea, or coneflower, plant is found growing wild only in the central plains states of the United States. Its benefits for health were well known by the Native Americans, including the Sioux, Cheyenne, Choctaw, Comanche, Crow, and Kiowa tribes. Early settlers learned the value Echinacea from them, and sent plants back to Europe, where it became very popular even as its use in the United States declined. Much of the research on Echinacea has been done in Europe. Today, however, it has once again become well-known in the United States and is consistently one of the best selling herbal extracts on the market.
