Healthy Mouth & Gums™

How it Works:

The digestive system is essentially a connected tube through the body. The function of one area affects the health throughout the system. Because of this, keeping the mouth and gums at their optimum is as important as maintaining intestinal and colon health.

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) has been used historically for many health concerns. Peppermint has a cooling effect on tissue, including tissue in the mouth. Current research shows that the phenolic compounds in peppermint help support healthy bacteria levels.*1,2

Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata) was traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to support a variety of dental health concerns, including a feeling of freshness in the mouth. Research shows that clove can support the body’s own anti-inflammatory abilities and healthy bacteria levels in the body.*3

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia), is native to Southeast Asia and has traditionally been used as both a flavoring and an important traditional botanical. Current research has focused on the ability of one the plant’s primary components to balance oral bacterial levels.*4

Oregano (Origanum compactum), helps balance bacterial levels and supports the body’s natural immune defense system. Its powerful plant phenols also show antioxidant activity, a key to optimum health, and oregano oil promotes healthy microflora balance as well.*5-8

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) was discovered in England in 1696. The plant’s origin was the result of a natural hybrid of two other mint species. It is frequently used as main ingredient for herbal teas and is one of the most popular flavors and flavoring ingredients for many foods.

Cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia) is cultivated in Southeast Asia and was first used as a medicinal herb over 4,000 years ago. While often used for digestive concerns, cinnamon was so highly regarded in the ancient world, that one at time it was actually more expensive than silver in Rome.

Clove (Eugenia caryophyllata) is originally from the Molucca Island region of Indonesia. It has been a valued botanical for thousands of years and was traded extensively from Asia to the Mediterranean.

Oregano (Origanum compactum) has been used as a culinary and medicinal herb throughout the Mediterranean and North Africa. It is currently the focus of research regarding healthy bacterial balance and natural food preservation.
