Q: Do I need to take Viragen™ every day, or can I just take when I feel like I need it?

Viragen is an excellent supplement for everyday use because immune system challenges can strike any time of the year. However, it will also provide benefits when used during those times when you need an extra boost for immune support.*

Q: Can children use Viragen?

Bio-Typed plant oils are extremely concentrated and are not recommended for children under the age of six. For children ages 6-12, one softgel a day is the suggested dosage. Please discuss use of any dietary supplement with your child’s health care practitioner.

Q: Is the ravensara oil in Viragen sustainably harvested?

Yes. Because there is increasing concern about plant oils and raw materials, we believe in – and support – sustainable harvesting methods that can continue to support the local economy in Madagascar, the environment of the region, and ensure the health of all for generations to come. Our ravensara oil is collected from the leaves, not the bark, which does not damage the tree.

Viragen™

The Bio-Typed oil of Ravensara aromatica is one of the primary ingredients in Viragen.

Ravensara is a native tree to Madagascar growing in evergreen forests on mountainsides, primarily on the eastern side of the island nation. Ravensara was first noted by European traders on Madagascar in the 1640s, being used – like so many of the most effective herbs – as both a seasoning and a traditional medicine.  Grown in the forested hillsides, ravensara can be very sustainable – it simply takes extra care to carefully harvest the material from the trees. Younger twigs and leaves make up the raw material for the oil, (the Ravensara oil in Viragen is collected from the leaves) and as long as the tree isn’t stripped, or bark along the trunk “girdled” (removed around the entire circumference of the tree) harvests can continue for generations. Like so many of our precious botanical resources, there is a great effort in cultivating ravensara so that wild species can remain unharmed.

The scent of Ravensara is similar to eucalyptus, which is not surprising, considering it shares many of the same compounds with eucalyptus, including 1,8 cineole, alpha pinene, and limonene.
