Ajay Goel, PhD
Dr. Goel, PhD, is a Professor and the Director of Translational Genomics and Oncology, and the Director of the Center for Gastrointestinal Research at the Baylor Scott & White Research Institute, Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, TX. He is one of the top scientists in the world investigating botanical interventions. Dr. Goel has spent over 20 years researching cancer and has been the lead author or contributor to over 200 articles published in peer reviewed journals and several book chapters. He is also the author of the recently published book Curcumin: Nature’s Answer to Cancer and Other Chronic Diseases.
Dr. Goel is currently researching the prevention of gastrointestinal cancers using integrative approaches, including botanical products. Two of the primary botanicals he is investigating are curcumin (from turmeric) and boswellia. Dr. Goel is a member of the American Association for Cancer Research and the American Gastroenterology Association and is on the international editorial boards of Gastroenterology, Clinical Cancer Research, Carcinogenesis, PLoS ONE, Scientific Reports, Epigenomics, Future Medicine, Alternative Therapies in Heath and Medicine, World Journal of Gastroenterology. He also serves on various grant funding committees for the National Institutes of Health and several international organizations.
