Each of our PleuraMax supplements should be taken without food meaning on an empty stomach, an hour before or four hours after eating. First thing in the morning is best. Pleuran supports your natural defenses by interacting with receptors on the surface of immune-activating Peyer’s patches in the small intestine. This works best when there is no food in the intestines at the same time.*
If PleuraMax Upper Respiratory Health Chewable should be taken on an empty stomach, is the chewable tablet competing with the pleuran?*
No. The chewable tablet is a minimal amount of material that doesn’t inhibit the formula’s effectiveness. A recent European clinical study using a chewable version of Imunoglukan P4H® pleuran found that it provided effective respiratory and immune support. Additionally, the mixed berry flavor tastes great, making it an excellent option for children and adults.*

How is pleuran different from other beta glucans?
Pleuran is a beta glucan unique to oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus). Unlike beta glucans from other sources, the insoluble structure of pleuran means that it is not absorbed, but rather passes through the digestive system intact, and is recognized by receptors on immune cells in the small intestine called Peyer’s patches.*
